HomeMy WebLinkAboutFebruary 16, 1971 A meeting of the Grow Township Zoning and Planning Commission was held February 16, 1971 at Crooked Lake school. Chairman Norm Stout called the meeting to order at $:00 PM with Commission members Christenson, Holasek, Jones, Langseth and Rither present. Chairman stated that the purpose of the meeting was to review the NIMLO MODEL ORDINANCE REGULATING AND LICENSING JUNKYARDS AND JUNK DEALERS. Subject ordinance was obtained from the Township attorney. Bradley arrived at $:20 PM. Discussion was held regarding fees, bonding, weeds, screening and period of license. Holasek felt that the present $20.00 fee was too low. Bradley said that $100.00 would be O.K. It was suggested that nearby municipalities be investigated to get some idea of what local fees are. Christenson noted that the present .town dump pays the Township $100.00 per month. Jones suggested that the fee be left at $100.00 until fees of nearby towns have been checked. Suggested by Bradley that a bond be required to insure a good, reliable operation. Bradley stated that the provision to keep weeds and vegetation cut to a height of four inches was "ridiculous and unreasonable". Rither disagreed, saying that tall weeds only add to the disarray of a junkyard. It was agreed that some form of live screening should be required. Bradley agreed to contact County Extension agents and formulate a screening plan. It was agreed that a license should expire within one year of date of issuance. Rither suggested that inspection be made not less than four months prior to expiration of license. Bradley suggested that SECTION 5-1110 (11) read absolutely no burning and (12) read all holidays. It was suggested that the Board of Investigators consist of the Censtable, Town Board Chairman, Zoning and Planning Commission Chairman, and the Building Inspector. No action taken, matter continued. It was moved by Jones, seconded by Holasek, to adjourn. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 10:00 PM. Robert A. Rither, Clerk, Zoning and Planning Cowmission
