Meeting was called to order at 7:37 p.m. by Chairman Jim Griswold. Attending in addition to the Chairman were members Britton, Jack and Rzeszutek. Guests were John Keprios, University of Minnesota; Dick Oxboro, Quickstrom Addition; Donna Gram, Langseth's pine Acres; Karen paray, Sarah English and Rosemary Thompson, Red Oaks Manor. The Minutes of the September 12 meeting were approved as corrected on a motion by Rzeszutek, seconded by Jack. Correction was to second paragraph on Page 2 - Cecil Heidelberger suggested that metal "firearms" signs be made, not park signs. OLD BUSINESS John Keprios presented an excellent plan for the Community Center area which will be on file at the Community Center for those wishing to examine it. Mr. Keprios suggested that we get away from "conventional" park equipment if possible by using pole tops, etc., as climbing toys, sewer tiles to run through and other ideas which have been and are being used in many parks. He also suggested that we continue to purchase whatever conventional equipment we use through Gametime Co. He suggested that we put the picnic tables on cement slabs to make cleanup and general maintenance easier; keep walkways and bikeways separate. Phil Rzeszutek asked Mr. Keprios how he felt about the Advisory Board starting our own tree nursery and placing it between the baseball and picnic areas. The idea was well accepted. The sand points and pump are at Goodin Company awaiting their receipt of our purchase order. Jim Griswold will pick up equipment on the 11th or the 15th. Jim Griswold and Jerry Lapham will see that the points are driven at the proper parks. Dave Jack moved that we advertise in the next Anoka County Shopper, I" ad, to dispose o~ the tires in Chapman Park. The ad will include the Town Hall number ",f,cG... ., . to call dUrlfl~,8:30 a.m. and noon for those lnterested ln taklng them away. Motion seconded by Phil Rzeszutek. Jim Griswold amended the motion to include informing Cecil Heidelberger that this will be done and if he wants to take them back before then he should do so. Motion seconded by Dave Jack; carried. Phil Rzeszutek reported that the Hockey Rink is now 90% complete; painting will be started on 10/11 and the rink should be completed by 10/13. Wally Arntzen will be ordering hose for flooding. It was suggested that industrial molasses be used as a sealer for the floor of the rink; no action taken. Dave Jack presented a bill for use of the post hole digger; bill will be turned over to the Treasurer for payment. Phil Rzeszutek moved that we request two security lights be installed on the hockey rink so it can be used for recreational skating this winter. Motion seconded by Dave Jack; carried. Letter will be written to Town Board requesting said lights. .. , , Minutes of October 10 Regular Monthly Meeting Page 2 Jim Griswold moved that we purchase trees for our proposed nursery - of Norway, Black spruce, white spruce, ponderosa pine and Green ash. seconded by Sylvia Britton; carried. 500 each Motion NEW BUSINESS Dave Jack, liaison member of zoning and Planning Commission, presented Sketch Plan C - a proposed plat, which will be reviewed at the November meeting after the park board members have had a chance to look at the land being donated. He also presented a sketch from Ken Olson who is platting two lots at Nightingale and 154th. Jim Griswold moved that we accept money in lieu of land in this case; seconded by Phil Rzeszutek; motion carried. Dave Jack presented the plan of Marlow Strand for a small subdivision. Phil Reszutek moved that we accept money in lieu of land; seconded by Sylvia Britton; carried. Jerry Windschitl presented his sketch plan of The Oaks. He offered 2.6 acres to the Advisory Board as parkland. His intent is to donate from this parcel enough parkland to allow his property across Crosstown Blvd. to be subdivided with no additional parkland to be donated. The total acreage of the parcel currently being subdivided is 7.89 acres. Dave Jack moved that we accept the offer of Jerry Windschitl of 2.6 acres of parkland as shown on the sketch plan of The Oaks. Seconded by Phil Rzeszutek; carried. Jim Griswold and Jerry Lapham will take care of the training session for use and care of the portable pump. Guest Karen paray of Red Oaks said they would like to do something with the park in their area. We suggested that they get together and plan with their neighbors what they want and present it to us at a later meeting. Motion made by Dave Jack, seconded by Jim Griswold that the meeting adjourn.
