HELD SEPTEMBER 12, 1974
Meeting was called to order at 7:52 p.m. by Chairman Jim Griswold.
Attending in addition to the Chairman were members Britton, Heidelberger, Jack and
Rzeszutek.
Guests included Carol Sheppard, Bob Ottens, Vern Niesus, Bonnie Hoffman.
The minutes of the August 8 meeting were read and approved on a motion by
Heidelberger, second by Jack. Minutes of the joint meeting of August 22 were
read; no action necessary.
OLD BUSINESS
There has been a change in the total price for sand points and the pump. After
discussion and clarification of specifications, phil Rzeszutek moved that we request
an additional $500 from the Town Board; motion seconded by Cecil Heidelberger.
(As a Town Board meeting was being held concurrently, an additional $600 was approved
for sand points and equipment, for a total of not more than $1,300 for the total
expenditure. Minutes attached.) Motion carried.
Security lights have been installed at Cedar Crest and Shady Knoll. Langseth's
pine Acres light has not been installed. Vern Niesus requested that we have AEC
check the light at Shady Knoll as it isn't very bright. The secretary will see that
it is taken care of.
The tires have not yet been removed from Chapman Park. Cecil Heidelberger will call
Jim Griswold within the next week regarding this matter.
Equipment has been installed at Langseth's pine Acres. The skating rink has been
started but needs final grading. Cecil Heidelberger moved that the secretary contact
Burton Kraabel and have him final grade the rink; seconded by Phil Rzeszutek; carried.
phil Rzeszutek reported on the status of the hockey rink. The lumber has been ordered;
posts will be delivered on September 13. A work crew will be putting in the posts on
Saturday, September 14. He will report again on status at next meeting.
Shady Knoll park equipment will be shipped at the end of the week of September 16.
Phil Rzeszutek presented a letter from the Township Attorney stating that the deed for
the park in Green Acres had been located and filed. Upon receipt of the acceptance
form from the Clerk, the acceptance will be filed along with the deed.
NEW BUSINESS
A training session for residents who wish to learn how to use the pump purchased for
flooding the rinks will be held after the pump is purchased. This will be taken care
of at the October meeting.
Bonnie Hoffman pointed out that they would be needing sealer for their blacktopped park
next summer.
Filing space for the Parks/Recreation Advisory Board was discussed. Dave Jack suggested
that we use the filing cabinet in the Z&P office - there is plenty of room for our
files.

MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF GROW TOWNSHIP BOARD OF SUPERVISORS HELD SEPTEMBER 12,
1974
Meeting was called to order by Chairman Richard Schneider at 9:50 p.m.
This short meeting was called in conjunction with the parks/Recreation Advisory
Board meeting because of a request from the PRAB for an increase in monies to
be expended on sand points and portable pump to be used for flooding township
skating rinks this winter. It was requested that they allocate an additional
$500 to supplement the $700 initially requested because of a misunderstanding
of the specifications for construction.
Motion was made by Richard Schneider, seconded by Marvin Christenson to allocate
$600 in addition to the $700 previously allocated for sand points and pump for
skating rinks. Motion carried.
\ Meeting adjourned at 9:52 p.m.
