MINUTES OF THE GROW TOWNSHIP PARKS/RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD MEETING HELD
JANUARY 10, 1974 AT CROOKED LAKE SCHOOL
Meeting was called to order at 8:05 p.m. by Vice-Chairman Jim Griswold.
Attending were Heidelberger, Griswold, Britton and Lapham. A large delegation
from Shady Knoll was present, and several residents from Cedar Crest.
Minutes from the December meeting were held for approval until the February
meeting because the members present did not constitute a quorum.
The park tour of November 24 was discussed and the previous tour information
from June 9, 1973 was updated.
Flooding skating rinks was discussed. The Town Board has authorized $125 per
rink for flooding. Jim Griswold has not found anyone who will agree to flood
them for us.
The Shady Knoll delegation would like to have a playground or tennis courts
put in at their park. It was discussed as a possibility for the coming year
and will be brought up at a later meeting after the neighbors have discussed
the matter further and have some firm ideas of what they want.
The secretary brought up the idea of purchasing some security lights from
Ev Steinke of Oak Grove Township. He has four of them available at $75 each.
It was thought that the expense of moving them would be more than the cost
of having Anoka Electric install new ones.
Members will be notified by postcard for future meetings. Also, interested
parties from each neighborhood will also be notified. A rubber stamp will
be purchased for this purpose.
The problem of members not attending meetings was discussed. A letter should
be written to those members who have missed more than three meetings asking
them to state their interest in remaining on the Board.
There will be a special meeting on January 17 to set up the budget request
for 1975. It will be held at the Building Inspector's Office.
Jim Griswold commented briefly on the incorporation hearings. He will be
presenting his park information on January 28, 10 a.m.
Meeting adjourned at 9:40 p.m.
