NINUTES
The Regular lIonth1y lIeeting of the Park/Recreation Commission Vias called to
order by Chairman L~ph~m, Nove~ber 4, 1976, 7:35 p.m., at the Andover City
Hall, 1685 Crosstown Blvd. N.H.
Commission Hembers Present: Christenson, Rzeszutek, Scho11a and P & Z
Liason Kishe1
Commission Hembers Absent: Arntzen, Dru~~ond and Mand
Also Present: l1ary Randall and Janet Taylor, residents of 133rd
Joe Royer and Tom Pahl, residents of Red Oaks

HOTION by Christenson, seconded by Lapham to approve the Hinutes of the October
7, 1976 meeting. lwtion carried unanimously.
RED OAKS PAPl:

Tom Pahl and Joe Royer stated they did not have any completed questionnaire
forms with them tonight.
Tom Pahl stated it would cost approximately $100.00 to get the park ready for
seeding. Chairman Lapham asked him to get a contract in ~Iriting including price
from Ken Sl:,'zuk. Hr. Pahl also had quotes on seed and fertilizer. After the
grading is done and the seed and fertilizer purchased, it Vias estimated there would
be approxL~ately $400.00 left in the budget for Red Oaks Park. It was also
mentioned that the sand points are in.

Hr. Rzeszutek stated ne~:t Tuesday niGht, Hovember 9, 1976, 7 :30 p.m. there ,'li11
be a meeting at the school to possibly set up a full time Community School
Program. He ~vill attend the r.leeting along with Councilperson llary Vanderlaan.
Chairman Lapham st3ted he would also try to attend. The estimated cost for a
complete year round program would be $13,000.00.

COHPREHENSIVE PARK DEVELOPHENT PUN
Wes Hendrickson waS not in attendance but hed called earlier in the day. The
proposed park development plan was not quite complete but the Commission
members \vould be receivin3 a letter in the mail shortly. ~t the City Council's
budget meeting, ChaL~~n Lapham was asked to cont~ct a few more engineers to
see if he could rind someone less expensive. There were mixed feelings on
\1hether to ~vait for a fin1Jlized cooprehensive par!( development plen or kcep
buying equipr.ent, etc. piecemeal as has been done in the past. This subject
will be further discusnecl 2t future Dcctiuss.

city should maintain it.

Hr. nzeszute!-; reported that at last month's hoc!:ey sien-ul' nigbt, O'ler 83 people
shol1ed up. Several sports shop~ de;:,oristratecl hockey equipRent nnd h<:1d dispLq3.
They also hnnded out the fund roisinr; canoy. Over 100 kids have sicned up for
hockey so fcr. There will be another [,leetinr; on Nover,lber 11, 1976.
ATTEFDAliCE
Chairmen Lepham noted that chanr;ing the meeting night to Thursday instead of
Tuesday hasn't done much zood. Hr. Scholl a stated it \-;as difficult for him to
attend meetings due to his job.
CROOKED LAKE PARK
Chairman Lapham read the letter sent to the t~~o property o,');1.ers on the north end
of Crooked Lake inquiring about purchasinr; these parcels. As of yet no replies
have been received.

The subject of money in lieu of pClrk land was discussed and there was r.lUch
confusion regarding this depending on 'Iho talked to Brad Hicklund about it.
A copy of a memo sent to P & Z was not found in the Minute book. (Four
pertinent letters hClve since been found.)
