Members present: Wesley !viand Marv Christenson Phil Rzeszutek Jerry Lapham Greg Dnunmond Gary Scholl a Walley Arntzen ~~lph Kishel, P & last meeting will Z Liaison stand as presented. lvIembers absent: Also present: The minutes of the Red Oaks Park *** L & R Excavating has gone out of business and has sold all of their equipment. Letter is in the file stating they ,,,ould come back this spring to correct the situation left last fall but it is not knmvn if anything can he done now that they are out of business. Northern Contracting is willing to come in on an hourly basis to correct the situation but we do not have prices yet. The pond is of sufficient size if the swail is widened. More dirt will be hauled in from the street construction project. \ Charles TheIl - Lives by this pond and his garage and yard is affected. He does not ,-~ agree_ with the way they have the drawing set up for the additional work that is to be done. He does not feel it will take care of the water nroblem. The City Engineers will be called and asked to contact him some evening to try to work out the best solution. No further action can he taken on tllis matter so it will go on the agenda for next month. Procedure for Plats *** The opinion was that they should have a copv of the plat enough ahead of time so they could make an on-site inspection before the meeting so a firm determination could he made. Letter will be sent to the P & Z Commission requiring plats a minimum of lO days prior to the time they will be considered by the P & z. ~~mbers are still not receiving City information hy the mail. ~{ITION by ~fumd, Seconded by Christenson tllat we request prior notification for the new plats that are coming before our Commission at least 10 days to D"O weeks ahead of time. Summer Recreation *** No one present from Summer Recreation so nothing will be considered tonight. ) (J CJ Park/Recreation Commission Meeting July 12, 1976 - tlinutes ," Page 2 '-/ Rules Committee Report *** Rules Committee has not as yet had a meeting so this will be placed on the agenda for the meeting next month. TIle Rules Committee consists of ~hrv Christenson, r,reg Drummond, and Wesley Hand. A.thletic . Association *** This will be postponed until after school starts and everyone can get together. Chapmans Park *** Post and cable fencing has been ordered. Mlen it comes a work crmv will have to be set up. Park Signs Checked on park signs: three tynes available at a cost of $16.60 each. Calls have come in from Chapmans and Red Oaks but a survey should be made of all parks and signs should be ordered for them all at the same time. Possibility of ordering signs from the County will he checked. Hemo should be written to the City Council asking what is being done about a maintenance man. TIlis will be put on the agenda for next month. *** ~ Attorney's Report on Park Land *** Report was reacl hy Phil Rzeszutek. No action is necessary. Chairman's Report of Park Dedication Budget *** Presently ShOlv a balance of $6,800 in park dedication fees and of this amount, $650 is designated for land nurchase only and $3,000 lvas included in the 1976 budget as income. A northern park site is needed and they will continue to check on this possibili ty. Barnes Rolling Oaks Park Dedication *** 111is is located at the intersection of Prairie Road and Andover. There is a North Central metering station which does have some odor but this is not a safety hazard for the children as they are included in various parks in the state. Discussed possibility of money coming from the First Addition in lieu of land to buy additional land at this site, which would be negotiated at a later date. }DTION by Mand, Seconded by Christenson that the Barnes Rolling Oaks Park is acceptable as platted. It is Barnes Rolling Oaks Second Addition. Carried unanimously. Grow Oaks Estates Park Dedication *** Property is not very accessible, but could be kept for certain tynes of recreation: " sno"mobiling, skiing, bikes, hiking, etc. Prooosed nark area does have access to the ~ river. ..:) ," --,- \ J Park/Recreation Commission Heeting .July 12, 1976 \ Page 3 '-) /lnTION by Christenson, Seconded by Hand to accent Grow Oak Estates for snowmobiling, cross country skiing, hiking, etc. Carried unanimously. Lurid Plat Park Dedication *** Glen Shaw and Jim Lund attended the meeting and discussed the possible park. The island is a Lyle Bradley historical site and nossible access was discussed. The park area will probably not be as large as originally nroposed. Committee feels this should be accepted as historical site and picnic area and possibly build a board walk to the island. There is a possibility of acquiring additional nroperty at some later date. Preliminary will be dra\vn un with exact nark area sho\vn, they have heen waiting for the aerial photos to be comnleted. Larson's Addition *** No one is present at the meeting so this will be put on the agenda for next month. Cubs, Tuffies, Pee Wees and Ponies A baseball specialist has been hired to teach the fundamentals of baseball for all Cubs and Tuffy baseballers. Boys will practice twice a week with games scheduled on Fridays starting the second week. A fee will be charged for those who wish to purchase a shirt. This fee will vary depending upon the Community. Schedu 1 e for CUBS: Grades K- 1 r10nday, Hednesday or Tuesday, Thursday 10:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. Schedule for TUFFIES: Grades 1-2 - f1onday, tlednesday or Tuesday, Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Pee Wee and Ponies are a 5 day a week program with most of the emphasis , centered around learning the basic fundamentals. One day will be set aside for other activities such as soccer, track, floor hockey, outings, etc. A fee will be charged for those who wish to purchase a shirt. This fee will vary depending upon the Community. Fee $7.00 Level 1- Hednesday 10:30-11:15 Kindergarten girls , \ Andover Summer Playground Program - 2 Schedule for TINY TOTS: June 14 - July 23 Tuesday-Thursday - 9:00-10:30 a.m. 4-5 year olds Tuesday-Thursday - 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Kindergar TINY TOT PREBALLET Little ones will be ecstatic over this opportunity to become a ballerina and/ gymnastic tumbler in a great big gymnasium. . . beats the living room any day. Motor skills, balance and poise are emphasized. Level I is for youngsters who have not had previous instruction. Level II is for those who have had a previous class. Classes are offered for seven weeks beginning the week of June 14. Fee $4.00 Schedule for TINY TOT PREBALLET: Level I - Wednesday 9:45-10:30 4,5,6 year old boys Level I - Hednesday - 11 :15 - 12:00 noon 4-5 year old girls ARCHERY For boys and girls eight and over.
