Consider Community Garden Plots in Parks Areas, cont. DATE: November 19, 2009 INTRODUCTION This item is in regard to continue discussion on community garden plots in city park areas. DISCUSSION Since the last meeting, some of the potential sites have been removed from the list due to the lack of water being available to irrigate the gardens. So some of the sites that still may be worth discussing are as follows: • Urban -- Rose, Red Oaks East, Creekridge, and Terrace Note: All these locations have water available. Also since the last meeting we do have a landowner that may be interested in having community garden plot located on their property. This landowner will be meeting with the adjacent property owners on Tuesday, November 17` On behalf of the city, I will be attending the meeting to answer any questions that the neighborhood may. I will let you how it went at the Park Commission meeting on Thursday night. The landowner may attend the meeting on Thursday night if all goes well with the neighbors. If the landowner determines that it will not work, the Park Commission will need to narrow their choice on where the garden should be located. ACTION REQUESTED Depending on meeting with the landowner, if that does not work out, the Park Commission will need to narrow the choice as to where the Community Garden Plot should be located.
