Staff Update
Erick Sutherland reviewed the Community Center Fee schedule and spoke about
proposed 2007/08 fees. After much discussion, it was decided to table discussion on
the proposed ice rental fees.
Frank Kellogg asked Jamie Durand to collect information on the amount of ice hours
that AHYHA has been renting from various arenas and average rates charged. Also to
gather information on the new "mini-mite" program that AHYHA has thought about
implementing and what type of investment AHYHA will be making along with the
number of AHYHA participants both current and projected.
Discussion continued with the Field House fees. Frank suggested that a fund be
created to help low-income youth with open gym fees. Frank also asked how it was
determined when establishing fees for events such as the home show and craft fairs.
Erick has called area venues to get fees and charges accordingly. Charges also apply
to tables, chairs and electricity. Survey results from the vendors of the Home Show
indicated a very positive experience. A copy of the survey will be given to commission
members with the next meeting packets.

Staff Update
Attendance totals for the 1 st quarter of 2007 are as follows:
Tot-Time: 649
Walkers: 1,281
After School Gym: 2,256
A new Tae Kwon Do program will be offered this summer in the Field House. Pre-
registration is required, the sessions will take place Monday mornings in June/July and
July/August.
The June Learn to Skate dates and have been set and registrations are currently being
taken.
The Andover Community Center hosted a Spring Break Hockey Camp, 16 participants
and Spring Break Basketball Camp, 24 participants. Fun was had by all and staff plan
to host the camps again next year as well as looking into hosting camps in August to get
the kids ready for fall sports.
A meeting has been scheduled with Youth First to discuss future programming for the
month of August, similar to what we did last summer with the Kid Adventure classes.
The Community Center will be organizing and running the concessions at Sunshine
Park this summer. Elizabeth Brouse, Community Center Concessions Supervisor and
Erick Sutherland have been very busy ordering and organizing equipment and product
as well as hiring additional staff.
Natural Gas Bills - The Community Center discovered that the majority of the boiler
room gas bill was being paid for by the City when in fact; the majority of the hot water
was and is being consumed by the YMCA. After researching and installing meters to
count therm usage, the YMCA has agreed to pay 72% of each month's boiler room gas
bill.
Solar Heat - Mr. Knight asked if the Community Center has looked into solar heat.
Erick stated that they did have a meeting and it sounded like most of the solar heat
would benefit the hot water aspects of the building. Erick is waiting for follow-up
information from the vendor.
2006 Final Budqet Reports should be approved by the Andover City Council in mid-
May and will be shared with the Advisory Commission once approved.
