ECIAL PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING - SEPTEMBER 10, 1998
MINUTES
The Special Park and Recreation Commission meeting of the City of Andover was called to
order by Chairperson AI Grabowski, September 10, 1998,7:30 pm, at the Andover City Hall,
1685 Crosstown Boulevard NW, Andover, Minnesota.

Public Information-Input Meeting/1998 Potential Park Bond Referendum/Project 98-18
Steve Freitaa. 14056 Raven St. NW - Questioned the use of Red Oaks East Park. Would
like to see the additional soccer fields due to the number of youth that were not able to
participate this past summer due to the lack of room. Complimented the Commission on the
improvements made to Red Oaks West Park.
Brett Drey - Was concerned due to lack of facilities for football.

U Cindv Showalter - Came from Bloomington, which has lots of park and activities within the
parks. Would like to see the City move forward with the bond.
Euaene Benson - Would like to see elimination of the small shelters within the bond and put
this money into additional landscaping into the park. Would like to see additional employees
hired to maintain the current facilities.
Ron Warransee - Would like to see Oak Bluff irrigated for the soccer field.
Dave Reddick - Would like to see a baseball complex with the grass infields.
Diane BolliQ - Moved from Champlin to Andover 1 month ago. Questioned whether there will
be another park bond in the future after this if it passed.
Deb Holmaren - Would like to see lighted baseball facilities.
Lyle Bradley - Complimented the Commission for all the effort they have made to improve
the park system and would like to see the park bond move forward.
_ Merle Prochniak - Was in favor of developing the parks system. Make sure bond
accommodates both young and the older folks that live in the City.
Motion by Blackstad. Seconded by Barringer to adjourn. Motion carried unanimously. The
meeting was adjourned at 9:30 pm.
