YMCA Youth Development Update Ms. Jolyn Howe presented information on the various YMCA camps that they coordinated during this past summer 2006. The daycare program that was held at the Andover YMCA Community Center served approximately 60-80 children per day. Facilities that were used this past summer were both meeting rooms, the city park behind the building and one court in the Field House. There were additional children that utilized the facility as a drop off site for various YMCA camp programs and then were bussed. Ms. Howe announced that the YMCA's goal for 2007 is to double the numbers for the on-site daycare. Mr. Kellogg asked if children attending this daycare were all Y members, and Ms. Howe stated the program is open to the public for both members and non-members. Registrations will begin in January. Erick expressed his concern with space issues if the numbers were to be doubled from last year. There were a few instances that created problems over the summer. Erick indicated that it is important for the YMCA and the Community Center to work on this together and to indentify areas within the building that could be utilized most efficiently. The rental fees for the Field House will also need to be negotiated for summer 2007. Frank suggested that the YMCA look at the daycare children's demographics and if they have a lot of children from other cities, utilize the opportunity to contact those cities and Andover YMCAlComm!Jnity Center Advisory Committee Minutes November 6, 2006 Page 2 suggest a donation to the program.
