Adjournment .~ . - .~._- ~ CITY of ANDOVER SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING - APRIL 9, 1991 MINUTES A Special MeetIng of the Andover City Council was called to order by Mayor Ken Orttel on Apr i I 9, 1991, 5:30 p.m., at the Andovee City Hall, 1685 Crosstown Boulevard NW, Andover, Minnesota. Councilmembers present: Jacobson, McKelvey, Percy, Smith Councilmembees absent: None Also peesent: City Administrator/ Engineer, James Schrantz; and others AUTHORIZE LAND PURCHASE/NORTHWEST FIRE STATION Mayor Orttel reported last Friday the Commissioners' award came in on the condemnation for the Northwest fIre station for $44,000. In addition, the City must pay $500 for the costs of the property owner. The City Attorney advised the Council to authorize the expenditure at up to $44,500 to be placed in the account for the property owner. The owner still has the right to appeal. The City Attorney wIll be contacting the property owner's attorney to find out if he wi II accept It, will appeal it, or If he Is willing to make othee aerangements to take less land than what was asked foe. MOTION by Jacobson, Seconded by Perry, based upon the CIty Attoeney's recommendation and the award by the Commissioners viewing the property for the fire station in the northwest part of the City, the City authorizes up to $44,500 to come out of the Fire Department bond money to purchase 6.1 acres of property. Motion carried unanimously. AUTHORIZE FIRE DEPARTMENT BURN MOTION by Perry, Seconded by McKelvey, the Andover Fire Department be authorized to burn the property at 16663 Ward Lake DrIve, which has been described as a hazardous buIlding, on April 17, 1991, subject to both owners signing the agreement.
