SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING - AUGUST 14, 1984
MINUTES
A Special Meeting of the Andover City Council was called to order by Mayor Jerry
Windschitl on August 14, 1984, at approximately 8:45 p.m., at the Andover City Hall,
1685 Crosstown Boulevard NW, for the purpose of interviewing applicants for
appointment to the Andover Planning and Zoning Commission.
Councilmen present: Elling, Knight (arrived at approximately g p.m.), Lachinski, Orttel
Councilmen absent: None
Also present: City Clerk/A. Administrator, P. K. Lindquist
PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION INTERVIEWS
The following persons were scheduled for interviews allowing approximately 15 minutes
per interview: Beverly Jovanovich, Jim Merritt, and Jim Neumann. Council informally
asked each applicant questions as to the reason they applied for the position, their
thoughts on how the City should develop, whether they have the time necessary to
meet the requirements of the position, their feelings on single·family, multiple,
and commercial development, etc.
APPOINTMENT TO PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
Council felt all three applicants were good candidates for the position, commenting
that possibly Mr. Neumann would be more interested in serving on the Park and Recreation
Commission because of his interest in youth sports activities.
MOTION by Elling, Seconded by Orttel, to appoint Beverly Jovanovich to the Planning
and Zoning Commission to fill the unexpired term of Arlan Knutson, expiring 12/31/85.
Motion carried unanimously.
Council discussed the possibility of appointing an alternate in the event there becomes
another opening on the Commission in the near future; however, that option is not
provided for in the ordinance. It was agreed if the Planning Commission would want
that provision, they should request a change of the ordinance.
SET DATE/COON CREEK WATERSHED MEETING
It was agreed to discuss this item at the Regular August 21 meeting.
MOTION by Orttel, Seconded by Lachinski, to adjourn. Motion carried unanimously.
Meeting adjourned at 9:51 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
