SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING - MAY 27, 1975
MINUTES
A Special Meeting of the Andover City Council was called to order by Mayor,
Richard J. Schneider, May 27, 1975, 7:45 P. M., at the Andover Community Center,

Councilpersons present: Rither, VanderLaan, Windschitl
Councilpersons ablsent: Holasek (Arrived 8:15 P.M.)
Also present: Deputy Clerk, Pat Lindquist
Mrs. Lindquist in ormed the Council that Mrs. Perry had called at 7:30 to advise
that she would not be interested in the position because of the -evening hours.
Discussion was ha on the number of hours required for the position. MOTION by
Windschitl, seconded by V~nderLaan, that the City of Andover hire Deloris Hanson
to work as a clerital assistant to the Clerk/Treasurer, as full time ,position, with
hours in excess of 32 per week: said hours to be determined by the Clerk/Treasurer;
and that the begin ing rate of pay be set at $3.40 per hour. Motion carried unanimously.
Fringe benefits w re discussed. MOTION by Rither, seconded by Windschitl, that
fringe benefits be s follows:for Deloris Hanson:
1) Vaca ion - One week following one year of service
2) Sick Leave - One week following one year of service
3) HolF ays - Nine (9) as per the Building Official's contract.
4) Insu ance - Individual Medical and Life coverage
Motion carried un nimously.
Mrs. Hanson appe red before the Council and was advised of the above motions. She
agreed to begin w rk on May 29, 1975.
Discussion on Par -time Em 10 ee
MOTION by VanderLaan, seconded by Holasek, that Janett Eveland be appointed a
clerical assistant o perform duties as outlined by the Clerk/Treasurer; salary to be
$3.60 per hour, w th Hours" to be designated ,by the Clèrk:/Treasurer. MOTION AMENDED
by Rither, second d by Holasek, that this be designated as a part-time position.
Amendment and m tion carried unanimously.
MOTION by V~nde Laan, seconded by Windschitl, that vacation, sLck leave, and
holidays for Janett Eveland be on the same schedule as those for Mrs. Hanson: with
hours for same be pro-rated on the average hours of employment. Motion carried
unanimously.
A letter had been leceived from Mr. Jaworski requesting payment of the Registration
Fee for an OakWil~ and Dutch Elm Workshop on June 5 and 6. Mr. Jaworski was
asked if he intended to be Tree Inspector for any other communities; to which he
replied that he did Inot as long as he was employed in this capacity by the City of Andover.

Mr. Jaworski furtt,er stated that he would like to receive $5.00 per hour for time
lost from his regu ar job while attending this workshop. Discussion was had on
reimbursement fOí time lost on a job when said job was for an employer other
than the City of Andover. MOTION by Rither, seconded by VanderLaan, that the
City of Andover p":y a $25.00 Registration Fee for Mr. Jaworski's attendance at
the Dutch Elm andloak Wilt Workshop on June 5 and June 6, 1975. Vote: Yes_
Schneider, Windsc itl, Rither, VanderLaan; No - Holasek (Felt that at least one
day's time lost reimbursement should be paid.) Motion carried.
Ehlers;and AssociLes
MOTION by vandelrLaan, seconded by Holasek, that Pat Lindquist be directed to
write a letter to Ehlers and Associates, indicating that the City of Andover will no
longer be employibg them as fiscal agents. Motion carried unanimously.
