The regular meeting of the Grow Township Board o~ Supervisors
met Tuesday, Hay 9, 1972 at Crooked Lw,e School.Chai",man Schneider ,
called the meeting to order at 8:06 p.m. with Supervisor Bradley "
and Christenson~
The minutes for April were not ready, due to the leave taken
by the clerk. The financial read by the treasurer was accepted.
Chairmen Schneider talked of Ham Lake Township and their
incorporation procedures. They are smalled in population, but have
services as police and fire. Ed Babcock said it would be hard at ~
this time to , tell us the advantages and disadvantages. Hr. Babcock
suggested a special meeting just to consider Incorporation. It
could mean more money in State Aid Highway funds to the Township. ¡
Possibly ;'30,000 but more likely ~50,000 to ;;55,000.
BUilding I!lspector Arntzen read the n.ew fees thr.t go into (
effect l'1ay 10, 1972. A schedul~ will be made av&ila~le. Permit

Bradley made a resolution that the Grow Township Board of Supervisors
adopt the buildj.ng permit fees a,s st2,ted by the Building Inspector. I
Christenson seconded.
May 2 we met with County Sheriff and Commissioners on patrol-
ling within the Township. They l¡'fQuld furnish
a car and manpower for a little under ;'20,000 for 7 days a week,
8 hours a day. We could decide what time of day they would patrol;
This 8 hours wuld be in addition to the time the Sheriff's depe,rt-
ment patrols now. Still have not made a decision as which way to
go. Vie talked with Ham Lake and they budget.f?41,000 for 1 chieÎ
full-time, 5 part-time men and 2 cars. The people VJere well S8,t-
isfied with the protection. The majority of Grow Township residents
felt there is a need for immediate protection in the area. j
Bradley said we need to inventory the park land availab1~ and
~
contact the people interested. Vie need some playground equipment t

Kenneth Olson approached the Board to ask for exemption f",om .
the platting and subdivision ordinance number 10. There are 3 lots;
each 2~ acres in size in Section 22. Mr. Olson contends that he
started before Ordinance 10 came into effect, and he complies with l
the ordinance except for platting. Hr. Olson contends he started
last fall and then didn't continue. Schneider asked if he had any
objection to platting? nYes, it's an unnecessary expense and 2
people. want to start to build." Hr. Babcock referred to Section 14
of Ordil1£~nce 10, ha",dship and Section 14.02 unnecessary hardship.
The Tawn2hip Board has got to decide on the purpose of the ordinance
and see if the hardship is sufficient to outweigh the accomplishment
of tLe pur~ose of the ordi~~nce. Hr. Be.bcock StB ted t~J.a_t tb.::·ough
