The Regular Meeting of the Grow Township Board of Supervisors met
February 9, 1971. Meeting was called to order at 8:06 by Chairman
Appleby with Supervisor Schneider, Attorney Beens, Planning and
Zoning Commission members Christenson, Holsek, Ri ther ,'and Building
Inspector Langseth present. Supervisor Winner arrived later.
It was announced that the printed copies of the new zoning~ ordinance
are available. Building Inspector Langseth indicated need for
copies of the construction section. The board determined that $ .50
per copy would cover cost of ordinance and would be charged to those
who wish a copy.
The board announced that the Metro Sewer Board is bringing the sewer
lines from Coon RaBidS ~he Grow Township line with a capacity ~~
of approximately 2 ,000' ere will be a meeting in about 4 weeks
with final information, but it was estimated that hte cost per 100 foot
lot would be $1,467.00 with approximately $200.00 for hookup. This
will only apply to the southern section of Grow. Building Inspector
Langseth said his impression was the homeowner should not have to pay
until he was hooked up to the sewer. Supervisor said deferred payment
was probably possible. A request for information on grants from HUD
(Housing and Urban Developement) has been sent.
Chairman Appleby inducated the sewer study done on Crooked Lake is
available for borrowing by interested parties.
The board called ~~r opinions on snowplowing service. }fJr. Vensas said
he has a prmblem. Bruce Johnson on 135th felt the plowed area is too
narrow. Appleby indicated roads were to be widened with the grader but
the grader has been broken down. Robert Rither expressed the feeling
that the township is being shoxtchanged. Board will talk to Trueman
Hulegaard.
Discussion on new ordinances followed. Rither reported meeting with
Art Bendisky and two men from the Sno-BaronsClub. The agreed ordinance
(snowmobile) should be coordinated with Coon Rapids and Anoka ordinances.
Coon Rapids is making some changes and Grow is waiting for the revised
addition. No action was taken on the junk yard ordinance.
A letter from the Anoka County Union was read offering to be the legal
paper for Grow. Supervisor Schneider moved it be designated as such.
Winner seconded and it passed.
Gary West requested better policing of dogs. Attorney Beens was instr-
ucted to check on the dog catcher being able to issue citations.
Rither Questioned the results in investigation of dumping sewage on
Ed Fields land by cesspool Cleaner. Board said he had stopped. It was
then questioned as to whether the old stuff had to be cleaned up. It
was decided that would only become evident upon thawing of snow, but
board would check further as to where cesspoo¡ cleaner is dumping and
whether he had cleaned up.
