The ~egular monthly meeting of the Grow Township Board
of Supervisors met Tuesday, December 14, 1971 at the Crooked Lake
School. Chairman Louis Appleby called the meeting to order at
8: 10 P.E. with Supervisors Bradley and Schneider; Zoning and
Planning Commission members Christenson, Nash, Rither, Stout, and
Holasek. Minutes of the November meeting and the treasurers report
were read and approved.
Schneider made a motion we accept the roads of Carlson and
Ha.nd. Appleby seconded and it passed.
There was a lengthy discussion on combining the positions
of Building Inspector, Dog Catcher, Weed Inspector, Park Commissioner,
and Constable, with a salary from $11,000 to $12,000 per year.
It was decided to keep the idea open for 30 days along with any

in July, 1972. Bradley suggested we schedule a special meeting with
the people interested in the job or jobs, instead of doing it on an
individaal basis. Meet on JæJ~ry 4, 1972 and make some arrangements.
No action taken.
Chairman Appleby said we could get some funds for little
, '- from the Federal Government. This could possibly be for
proJec cs, the sidewalk discussed at an earlier date. If anyone has any ideas,
they should contact Lyle Bradley.
Bradley talked briefly of a meeting at Blaine City Hall,
of the Korth Suburban Sanitary Sewer District. There were 12
communities involved.
The plat of Byrd Norton was tabled, as he had not returned
to the Zoning and Planning Commission.
Chairman Appleby stated that they have not taken care of
the littering along South Coon Creek Drive. It will have to wait
until the thaw.
Attorney Babcock said that there is a petition being cir-
culated in Ham Lake Township for incorporation. They have to
obtain 100 signatures before the Municipal Commission holds a hearing.
The petition was started by other citizens, not the Town Board.
I,Jr. Babcock felt we should have someone from the Eunicipal Commission
out to answer questions, and explain the pros and cons.

Bradley made a motion to send the Building Inspector, 1 Town
Board member, and 1 Zoning and Planning Commission member to a seminar
in Minneapolis, January 17 - 19, 1972. Schneider seconded and it
passed.
Chairman Appleby said he talked with Orren Fricke on the
Coon Rapids test well. The well is not large enough to feed the lake.
Grow is not on record as approving the well. A motion to table was
made by Bradley &nd seconded by Schneider. It passed.
It was suggested to have a write-up in the newspaper with
the news from Grow, Vlith the emphasis on the big things.
Motion made by Schneider to accept the Final Plat of
Langseth's Pine Acres. Bradley seconded, and the plat signed.
The Zoning and Planning Commission turned down the Soley
varia.TIc e. Schneider made a motion that the Town Board do the same.
Bradley seconded and it passed.
The Sno\Vlliobile Ordinance will be discussed at the next
meeting.
Motion to adjourn by Schneider at 10:08 P.M. Bra,dley
seconded.

The meeting was reconvened at 11:00 P.M. Bradley made a motion that
the plat of Byrd Norton be turned down. It should be redesigned and
sent back to the Zoning and Planning Commission. Schneider seconded.
Motion made by Bradley to put in $100 to the Gopher fund.
Schneider seconded.
Bradley motioned to adjourn at 11:20 P.M, Schneider seconded.

Attorney on December 30, 1971, to discuss the changcs ncccss~ry in
the Township levy madc necessary by the limitatIons on the To~mship
levy that were imposed 'by Extra Session Law 1971, Chapter 31.
It was determined that the Township had, on March 2, 1971,
at the Annual Meeting instructed the auditor to levy $36,500.00
against the taxable property of the Township. Under the new law
that was adopted by the Legislature at the Extra Session in 1971,
the Township will be penalized in its per capita aid from the
State of Minnesota unless it reduces its levy to at least $25¡454.34.
After discussing the needs for f~ds in the Township and after
reconsidering the entire budget of the Township the meeting was
adjourned to the residence of Chairman Appleby.
At the reconvened meeting it was moved by Supervisor Bradley --- -.
and seconded by Chairman Appleby that the Town instruct the auditor
to levy $25,000.00 against the property in the Township for the tax
to be paid in 1972. Upon vote being taken, all voted in favor.
Thereupon the meeting was adjourned.
