Grow TOi-mship
Minutes of Meeting
July $, 1969
The town's regular meeting was held at Crooked Lake School, with
Supervisors; L. Appleby, L. Winner, R. Schneider, Attorney Beens,
clerk, treasurer, and others. Meeting opened $ o'clock P.M..
Minutes were read, corrected, and approved, for June regular meet-
ing. Treasurer gave financial report.
The chairman told of town board receiving the engineer's report,
and that the study by Sullivans, would be paid when the statement
was received.
Chairman Appleby told of legislative action restoring village
powers to the town. A resolution by L. Appleby to renew village f
rights in the Town of Grow, seconded by L. Winner. All were in
favor. yræ. Beens to prepare resolution.
~-,-
L. Appleby read a letter from ~~s. Sonsteby, and Mr. and Mrs. Jol}.n__
Johanson. They requested town board to check on fences and cement
drivewa~s on town roads, on South Coon Creek Drive. Board and
attorney to investigate.
Mr. Appleby told of two petitions to be heard. Flagum property, the
llyn on 7th A venue, which is 7.7 ac~es. ~~. Flagum wanted it zoned
commercial. T Carlson talked in behalf of the Flagum zoning,
....
stating the land was not adjacent to anyone, and control was there
thru zonmng codes. Ivlr . Beens read use of commercial zoning from
the code book, and uses of-land under special use permits. Board
asked only member present, of the Zoning and Planing Board, for
his opinion; Wm. Kemp stated, he saw no reason for it not to be
zoned commercial, adding, that in the future Hwy #47 would be there.
lÆr. Winner stated there should be some idea of the intended business
before rezoning. He added. to wait until the zonmng board could
meet and give their opinon. In answer to ~~rvin Christenson,
tovm's attorney said that if new zoning laws are changed, and or
completed, it would not necessarily abolish present zoning business.
Charles Rogers said that he didn't mind a filing station, or super-
ette, but, he felt there was no reason to zone it now, until a
use is needed. After some for and against remarks, Richard
Schneider moved to rezone Flagum property, to commercial, L.
Appleby seconded the motion. LeRoy Winner ask to abstain from this
motion. ~~. Winner added, he disliked this, as it might set a
precedent.
