HomeMy WebLinkAboutApril - EXTRACT OF THE MINUTES OF THE TOWNSHIP OF GROW TOWN BOARD MEETING FOR April 8, 1969 Trustee Winner moved for adoption of the following resolution: WHEREAS, the citizens of Grow Township, at a town meeting, have expressed concern and dissatisfaction with the constantly increasing level of real property taxes, in response thereto, THE TOWN BOARD OF GROW does hereby request and urge the Anoka County Board and the Anoka-Hennepin Independent District No. 11 School Board to henceforth curtail and restrict their expenditures of public funds in an effort to reduce said taxes. Trustee Schneider seconded the motion and upon a vote being taken, the following voted in favor: Trustees, Appleby, Winner and Schneider. There were no Nayes. Ed Fields asLed how G:,ow com- pares with Sherburne County on taxes, and said taxes should be equal- ized. He added county and 3chools have to cut spending: there are groups pushing for swiming pods, and for the ice arena. Appleby stated he had taken tax questions into Erling Johnson to be 2rswered. Bob ~erhing sug- gested, after receiving tax statements, residence should get together and form another, stro~ger protest group. Appleby talked of dog ordinance, and that a dog catcher would be appointed by town board. It was mentioped that Coon Rapid 3, does not permit any burning in day light hours. Attorney to prepare sample ordinance. In answer to a question, I;'lr . Babcock said that H & 0 Blacktop, was suing the town, and that the town answered the petition that had been served. Truman Hulegaard asked about mileage, as con 3table. Board said ~ileage would be payed to constable for duties performed. Root. Hither asked about the zoning codes that were to be ready. Norman Stout reported that, the soils survey was not completed as of yet. Mr. Babcock said, that North Anoka County, under 196~ legislative laws. gave some powers to the tow~, that a vi llage has, and the legislature since that time, recodified some of its plapipg and zoning laws, for municipalities, and cancelled out, part of the old law, making it difficult for townshipò to update the zoning codes. He said, a new law has to be made. He mert-- ioned, he was èoing work for Oak Grove recently, when he discovered error._ Rossella Sonsteby asked about her zon~ng petition, and she said, she Eave 1\1r.
