BY: The Road Committee is asked to discuss and recommend to the City Council that a road fee be established for new development and building construction. The fee would be use to help fund the oversizing of major streets above the residential equivalents and various road improvements necessary to accommodate the additional traffic concerns which arise from new development. Many of the metro area cities require similar fees. Two examples are as follows: 1. City of Egan $430 per road unit \ ; 2. The program would be a 50 - 50 match of city funds (City Street Fund) and assessments. Staff would meet with and discuss the program with the residents along the various streets eligible for this program. If the residents were in support of the program the project would require a petition to be provided by the neighborhood. If the Road Committee agrees with this proposal, we will forward this to the City Council for approval. .' .~
