Discuss Water & Sewer Service for Properties Located Along Jh~ Bunker Lake Boulevard Reconstruction Project/98-17 The City Council is requested to discuss water and sewer service for the properties located along the Bunker Lake Boulevard Reconstruction project, Project 98-17. A number of properties located adjacent to Bunker Lake Boulevard between Hanson Boulevard and Quay Street NW have not been provided water and/or sanitary sewer service. During the reconstruction of Bunker Lake Boulevard it would be relatively simple and cost effective to service these areas during construction. If we service the properties the appropriate public hearings and assessment processes will need to be initiated. If we do not ) service the properties at this time it will be very difficult and costly to provide service in the future after Bunker Lake Boulevard is reconstructed. We are bringing this item to the Council for discussion and direction on how to proceed. , '\ . / CITY OF ANDOVER REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION , j DATE: Januarv 25. 1999 AGENDA SECTION Discussion Item ORIGINATING DEPARTMENT Todd J. Haas, ~ Engineering ITEM NO. Discuss Trail Construction between Chesterton ~-3~ommons 2nd & 3rd Additions/97-49 & 98-34 The City Council is requested to consider a bikeway/walkway trail between what is known as Chesterton Commons 2nd and 3rd Addition, Projects 97-49 and 98-34. The City Council had previously discussed a trail in this general area (see attached map) but did not indicate one way or another to consider this. The trail would be proposed to be most likely over the proposed sanitary sewer and watermain which is to be constructed from the 2nd Addition to 3rd Addition. There will be a maintenance access over most of the utilities and the Public Works Department has requested that the access be constructed as bituminous anyways. " Note: Staff will be working with the Coon Creek Watershed District due to some potential wetlands that could be impacted. The trail will allow the neighborhood from the south side of the ditch to be able to walk or bike to visit friends who live north of the ditch and also the neighborhood from the north side would also be able to visit friends on the south side but would also have a safer access to utilize the commercial areas. Also, this trail will service as a safe harbor for the children so they can visit their friends otherwise the only way to get from the south side of the ditch to the north side of the ditch to use Hanson boulevard which is not considered for a future trail adjacent to Hanson Boulevard due to the DNR protected wetlands which exist on both sides of Hanson Boulevard. As you are well aware, Hanson Boulevard traffic will only get worse over time. / // // 1 '-.J :2 :2 ~ 0 u z 0 f- J 0:::: III / W ~ f- (/) W I III U ~ <( ... 0 .,! a III ~ -" -.---- -'. \; ~ 'h' \..fA '\\~ ~:--'.~ -.
