Berkowitz, Director of Public Works/City Engineer FROM: Jason Baumunk, Parks & Streets Operations Manager SUBJECT: C. Other Items or Updates DATE: 09/07/23 INTRODUCTION The Park & Recreation Commission is requested to discuss the options for the 2024 playground replacements that are eligible under the Gametime 100% Matching Grant. This grant funds 50% of the cost of the purchase, the City funds the other 50%. DISCUSSION Staff applied for a matching grant from GameTime to assist in offsetting the rising costs of playground replacements, with the goal of not downsizing the size of the current equipment. Through the application process, staff was provided with eight options that fit within our proposed budget, and the footprint of the three -playground scheduled for replacement in 2024. The one exception is Woodland Estates, which staff plans to expand the overall size of the playground border to be more consistent with the other neighborhood playgrounds. Below are the suggested options for each playground, attached is the flyer for each structure. Woodland Estates: • Forest Garden (PT22286). Approximately $76,234.00 • Symphony Sail (PS21037). Approximately $60,000.00 • Mossy Hollow (PT18023). Approximately $48,010.00 Oakview: • Cross Over (PS22047). Approximately $134,042 • Bailey Range (PT21000). Approximately $84,102.00 • Hardwick (PT22007). Approximately $73,451.00 Shady Knoll: • Westerly (PS23011). Approximately $103,133.00 • Snappy Incline (PT21007). Approximately $73,336.00 Some of the additional costs for replacements include: • $5000-$6000 replace Engineered Wood Fiber (EWF) • $1000 concrete footings. • $5000-$6000 replacing 4 bay swings.
