Call to Order - 7:00pm Attendance: Frank Kellogg, Devon Walton, Andrea Melberg Thompson, Dan Terhaar, Erick Sutherland 2. Approval of Minutes - Wed. July 25,2005 - minutes approved as written. / 3. Grand Opening - The commission was briefed on the plans for the grand opening. A committee has been set up with Y and City staff. The program will run from 1 - 4 pm on September 10, 2005. There will be a short program followed by open gym and skating. There will also be food and soda available in the lobby. City staffwill continue to update as plans develop. It was noted that the first football game is the night before, and that would be a good place to help get the word out. 4. Facility Manual- The first draft of the manual was distributed to the commission at an earlier meeting. The commission requested that everyone be sent the word document via e-mail, so changes could be made. 5. Field House - Pass - The commission was made aware of a need for a field house yearly pass. There has been interest from YMCA members to obtain such a pass so they wouldn't need cash every time they come for open gym. Discussion from prior meetings was continued. An idea to make a pass available to all YMCA members was discussed at length. The commission has set monthly prices for YMCA members at $7.50 family, $6.25 dual, and $4.00 single. The thought is that Y members would be given the opportunity to purchase these passes and have them added to there dues they pay the Y. The Y would administer this fee and cut a check back to the city. Non-members would have the opportunity to purchase a seasonal pass for $125.00 family, $100.00 dual, and $75.00 single. These fees would be paid directly to the city. Community Center Advisory Commission Meeting Minutes - August 1, 2005 Page two 6. Other Business - The commission discusses ways to make the facility more marketable. Discussion on the brochure has been finalized and city staff is working on some ideas. There was a motion by Mr. Frank Kellogg for the addition of a marketing person to the city staff. After discussion on possibly making this a part time position, intern or incentive based position it was approved unanimously to recommend a marketing position. Mr. Sutherland updated the commission on the food/beverage policy at the Community Center. The city's policy is that they don't allow outside food and beverage into the facility. That's what the concessions/vending is for. The YMCA has an open door policy as people are allowed to bring in there own food/beverage for parties etc. This concerns city staff on what sort of effect it will have on concession sales; along with the fact it will be hard to keep it's policy on not allowing outside food into the building. 7.
