Adjournment Call to Order at 7:30 p.m. John Peterson, North Glen II Park Development ~ 01 ANDOVER PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION December 6, 1984 The regularly scheduled meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was held at Andover City Hall, 1685 Crosstown Blvd. N.W. on December 6, 1984 at 7:30 p.m. MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT: ALSO PRESENT: Prochniak, LeFebvre, McMullen, Szyplinski Kinkade Frank Stone, Public Works Jon Peterson, Good Value Homes GOOD VALUE PARK NORTHGLEN II DISCUSSION Mr. Peterson from Good Value started out by showing on the map where the park dedicated land was located and he stated that the reason for that area versus any other area was because of a problem with a lift station being neede and the City dod not want that. The area that was dedicated was good high ground with plenty of trees which Mr. Peterson stated that he though was a plus for a park. Prochniak stated that there was a problem as to what was actually decided and what work has been done and he stated that we needed clarification regarding the grading and seeding of the park area and also whether there was topsoil put on or not. LeFebvre stated that when the Park Commission took a look at the area in the fall, it looked as though there was not any tppsoil but that it may have been seeded. After more di~cussion, the following motion was made: MOTION: by McMullen, seconded by Szyplinski to have Good Value install two chainlink fences for the walkway and the driveway (walkway east side of park off Underclift and driveway off 139th and Yucca) and to grade, seed and put topsoil on an area 250 feet wide by 350 feet long to be used for ballfield or soccer field. This work will begin in the spring of 1985 and all work to ba approved by the City Engineer and the Public Works Supervisor. Motion carried unanimously. CROOKED LAKE WARMING HOUSE DISCUSSION Mr. Stone stated that he had been contacted by someone from the Andover Advisory Council to see if it would be possible for the City to periodically flood the ice rink at the Crooked Lake School site. Mr. Stone stated that he would contact the Park Commission since this item was pertaining to parks. Prochniak stated that he thought the Andover Advisory Council had already had the flooding of the rink worked out but that something new must have developed and the he again would contact chairperson of the Andover Advisory Council. MOTION: by Szyplinski, seconded by LeFebvre to recommend to the Andover Advisory Council that they use hose from Public Works and have volunteers flood the rink or approach the City Council if they have any further problems in this area. Motion carried unanimously. -2- DISCUSSION REGARDING FIELD USAGE McMullen stated that he had some information and would be working on this area. He asked the secretary to get any more information that may be helpful in this area and send it to him. Pl'ochniak asked Mr. Stone to get information together as to the time and cost for his staff to get ballfields prepared for games etc. Stone stated that he co~ld get that information for the Commission. Further discussion regarding this matter will be discussed at the next meeting on January 3, 1984 DISCUSSION ITEMS Szyplinski presented his layout for the booklet on Parks and the Commission was pleased with his ideas. It was decided to allow 1 1/2 hours ice time when reserving hockey rinks for usage. MOTION: by Szyplinski, seconded by McMullen to adjourn meeting at 10:00 p.m. Ze:r~;J- Lola Lindquist, Secretary
