JULY 9, 1985 - MINUTES
The Regularly Scheduled Andover Planning and Zoning Commission Meeting
was called to order by Chairman Don Jacobson at 7:30 P.M., Tuesday, July
9, 1985 at the Andover City Hall, 1685 Crosstown Boulevard N.W., Andover,
HN.

Approval of Minutes
June 25, 1985
MOTION by Apel, seconded by Jovanovich to approve the minutes of June 25,
1985 as written. Motion carried on a 4 yes, 1 present (Jacobson) vote.
Connie Johnson Variance (Comm. #6-85-3)
Connie Johnson, 13326 Gladiola Street N.W. - stated that she has a deck
which she would like to make into a three season porch that is 12' x 16'.
It would be approximately 70 feet from the lake instead of the 75 feet
that is required.
Commissioner Bosell asked ~ls. Johnson how close to the lake the house to
the north of her is. 11s. Johnson stated that she didn't know, but that
it is closer than her house.

from the ordinary high water mark and asked if that is the same as the

under it.
MOTION by Apel, seconded by Jovanovich that the Andover Planning and
Zoning Commission recommend to the City Council approval of a variance
requested by Connie Johnson, 13326 Gladiola Street N.W. The granting
of the variance will allow Ms. Johnson to use the property in a reasonable
fashion. This variance is pursuant to Ordinance 8, Section 4.33 (A),
which requires that any structure be no closer than 75 feet from the
ordinary high water mark.
Ms. Johnson's request for a 12x16' 3-season porch, resulting in a 6 foot

encroachment, should be allowed for the following reasons: 1) It does
not interfere with the surrounding area; 2) It would not adversely affect
existing or potential use of adjacent land pursuant to Ordinance 8, Section
5.04 (4).
NOTE: This variance is being recommended for approval subject to it remain-
ing open as a deck with no basement.
Vote, on motion:
Motion carried.

This will go to the City Council on August 6, 1985.
MOTION by Apel, seconded by Ward to adjourn. Motion carried unanimously.
