DISCUSSION REGARDING ANDOVER SOCCER (See attached)
Mr. Shay, a representative for the Andover Athletic Association, wanted
to find out the availability of soccer fields for use for in-house soccer
for the summer program for boys and girls in grades 3,4,5 and 6. Mr. Shay
stated that he had other options but would prefer to use the Andover
Community Park Complex because it was more centralized within the city.
Prochniak asked Mr. Shay when he would need a definite answer regarding
this situation and Mr. Shay stated within the next two months. Prochniak
stated that he would check with North Metro Soccer to see what their
needs would be for their program. He stated that they would then be
asked to attend another meeting so that a decision could be made as
fairly as possible between the-two Associations. LeFebvre stated that
Northwoods West would be another possibility for use for both practice
and games for soccer. Shay asked the Commission if they would allow
practice on the game fields and LeFebvre stated yes,as long as it
was not scheduled for use by another team. Mr. Shay also asked
if it would be possible to have a lock box outdoors? LeFebvre stated
that it might be possible to make use of the warming house for that purpose.
DISCUSSION REGARDING USE OF SOFTBALL FIELDS
There was considerable discussion among the representatives from the
three groups as to when they needed fields and for how many days per week.
Fritz Anderson stated that he schedules fields for Anoka, Champlin and
Ramsey. Bross stated that he makes use of 21 fields, four of which have
been in Andover. He also stated that he has between 160 to 190 participants
from Andover in his program. Sharon stated that he wanted to make use
of the Andover Community Park Complex because it was most centralized.
After discussion between the three representatives a schedule was arranged
tha t seemed to be agreeab 1 e for everyone concerned. (See Attached)
