MINUTES
PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION
MARCH 7, 1985
The regularly scheduled meeting of the Andover Park and Recreation
Commission was held at 7:30 p.m., at Andover City Hall, 1685 Crosstown
Boulevard NW, Andover, Minnesota.

PARK/FENCE GUIDELINES
There was discussion regarding the area in the report on fencing.
Szyplinski felt this information should be researched and worked on
and possibly made into an ordinance. Prochniak agreed. It was then
decided the Park and Recreation Commission would review this informa-
tion and get more feedback at the next meeting.
PLEASANT OAKS
Prochniak stated that he talked with the City Engineer regarding this
park area, stating that he wanted to make use of this park in the
spring. The Engineer felt that the matter will be handled soon due
to the fact that building will be starting.
HAWKRIDGE
Prochniak researched this area and stated that it would cost:
$15,000 for development
30,000 for (2) soccer fields
10,000 for play equipment
Total $55,000
Prochniak stated that the Commission needs to project ideas for this
park in the future. He would like to work on this project so that
these ideas can be presented to the Council along with the City Hall
site plans.
LIGHTING FOR CITY HALL SITE
The estimates from Jim Elling are as follows:
Egan McKay Phase I $119,000
Phase II 36,000
Phase III 62,000
Prochniak stated that grant information will be accumulated this
month and must be submitted by June for grant application.

DISCUSSION
The Chairman spent time discussing priorities for the Park and
Recreation Commssion. Chairman Prochniak stated that the Commission
must get moving on the decisions ragarding this matter. It was
decided to have a work session on March 14, 1985, for this purpose.
The Chairman also spent some time presenting information to Kathy
McAlpin, who attend the meeting in order to find out more about the
Park and Recreation Commission. Ms. McAlpin was considering putting
in an application for a position with the Commission.
Prochniak also stated that Melanie DeLuca would look into the situation
regarding use of the facilities at Crooked Lake Elementary School for
the summer.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 10:30 p.m.
