As a current Parks and Recreation Commissioner, I possess the working knowledge and experience to serve the City of Andover well in this position. In my current commissioner role, I have proven to be a quick learner, conscientious in financial matters, attentive to perspectives of Andover citizens, and always careful to examine all aspects and impacts of the decisions made by the commission. My past experience as Chairperson of the Steering Committee at PACT Charter School taught me Open Meeting Law standards, Roberts Rules of Order, skills to compromise with a large group of people with varying perspectives, and the importance of considering all points of view. I truly enjoy serving my community as a part of a decision-making process. I hope to meet with you soon to discuss where I can best serve the City of Andover as a commissioner. My family and I moved to Andover in 2011. I have had three children graduate from Andover High School and I currently have two children in Andover Elementary School. My background is in law enforcement. I started my career in 1993 working narcotics in southern Minnesota. I also worked on patrol and as an investigator in Prior Lake, St. Louis Park and most recently Brooklyn Park. I retired in October of 2018 due to injuries sustained on the job. I am currently a stay at home mother. I feel that with my extensive background in law enforcement I am able to provide insight in areas of the community that no other candidate may have knowledge of. I have witnessed the successes in communities along with mistakes. I feel I would be a valuable asset to the Planning and Zoning Commission. I hope you consider my application.
