Absent: Mike Knight Meeting called to order at 6:34 pm Agenda Approval Approved as written Approval of Minutes October 17, 2016 — Minutes Approved as Written Define Our Community Mr. Kellogg asked Allison how the Andover YMCA compares to others Y's as far as space availability. Allison stated that the Andover YMCA has very limited space and offers limited programs for their members compared to other YMCA's. Once the YMCA expansion analysis has been released and presented to the Y board, etc. Allison will share the information with this commission and will check to see if the document can be shared. Erick provided a summary from the previous advisory meeting and handed out a document that provided program participant numbers of current facility partners. Ted is still waiting to hear back from a couple of the groups and he will forward the information onto Erick so that it can be added into the document. Regarding the AHYHA numbers, the commission asked Tony to include all Jr Huskie enrollment stats into the participate numbers. Frank was interested in looking at what other hockey association numbers are at and what their cities are doing for them. Joy stated that the city parks are being over utilized and that if an expansion should occur, that a multi- purpose space could possibly help out the parks. Joy spoke with Mayor Trude and asked how the commission could assist the council with possible expansion information. The mayor suggested compiling questions for the city survey. Ted suggested that the commission compile a 2 — 3 page report to help prepare for the feasibility study. Erick stated that the city has set-aside $75,000 for a city-wide survey. Andover YMCA Community Center October 17, 2016 Frank asked Erick to find out what month the feasibility study would occur in 2017. Commission would like to look at a park investment vs the less of $0 revenue. Ted stated he could look into the Pine Hills North Park project. Allison will check to see if there is a copy of the original return on investment for the Y as well as look at the maximum number of memberships that the Y can accommodate. Joy indicated that she has formed a group called the Andover Residents for the ACC/YMCA Expansion and has started a petition for residents to sign supporting an expansion. Joy's goal for creating this group is to help educate the council on the need for expansion as well as a place for Andover residents to voice their concerns and to share data publicly so that residents have the facts. Joy asked if she could share information that was discussed at the commission meetings on the Andover Residents for the ACC/YMCA Expansion page. The commission asked Joy to run items by the commission before she would share them on her page as most of the discussions at the commission meetings are brain storming sessions. The commission suggested that she post about programs and services that the facility currently offers and help educate residents on what the facility needs may be. YMCA Update — Allison provided the commission with a handout outlining the Andover YMCA activities for November. Allison shared that $220,000 - $280,000 every year is given back to the community. Frank suggested that Allison submit an article to the Andover Today Newsletter so that residents are aware of the amount of money that the Y raises and gives back to the community. Allison also spoke about the after school youth center program and that there have been a lot of participants attending the program. The commission was reminded that the City of Andover provides money to the YMCA to help staff the after school program. Frank asked about the Oak View Middle School pool and YMCA discussions. Allison stated that the school district was looking into the costs associated with repairing the air handling unit. ACC Update — Cindy reviewed the ACC status report. Commission Input - Joy expressed concerns with Subway having long wait times and lack of product. Ted also supported Joy's concerns.
