ACC Update— Cindy reviewed the ACC status report. Tot Time Open Gym began October I" and has been well attended. Approximately 90 separate families have attended Tot Time, the average age of participants is around 2 years of age. The children are enjoying playing with some of the new equipment that had been purchased with the $500 donation from Andover Football Association. Cindy reminded the commission that the facility will be used for Andover Precincts 7 & 8 for elections on Tuesday, November 8a'. The commission suggested that additional signage and flyers are available for residents while they are visiting the facility. AHYHA Update — AHYHA received 519 total registrations for the 2016 — 2017 hockey season; this number includes approx. 43 kids who enrolled in the Jr. Huskies program. Winter Jr. Huskies will be held in January — so additional registrations are expected. The enrollment accounts for approximately 384 separate families. District #10 tightened upon the rules so kids that are within the Andover High School boundary areas can only play for AHYHA. League games are expected to begin November 13a'. \J Andover YMCA Community Center October 17, 2016 Define Our Community - The commission reviewed the information that was submitted and distributed in the packet. Joy found an article on an Andover retail analysis from 2012. She will read through the information and summarize and share with the commission. Ted suggested we take pertinent information and highlight a few areas. The areas identified by the commission include: • Andover continues to grow at a steady pace — Ted will summarize demographic/census date. • Andover is a young community with a median age of 37.3 • Andover has a growing number of Seniors (new senior amenities being built in the city) • Evidence suggests that families who have already had children are moving into Andover (Their 2"d home) o Erick will reach out to Anoka Hennepin School District to ask for student data. Ted had found information, but it was all related to live birth projections. • Highly engaged youth population — Look at number or participants in all youth sporting events/associations within the City — ACC Staff will reach out and put participant numbers together. Ted will obtain data from the park usage applications as each association is supposed to record the number of participants on their park application forms. • Highly educated professionals, median household income is $75,000 and over. That's 62.2 % of Andover vs 44.3% in Minneapolis. • Andover is fiscally responsible. Andover taxes are in lower 1/3 of all of Anoka County Cities. Joy mentioned that she will be attending the City Council CIP meeting tomorrow evening. She will reach out to the council to see what information they would like to receive. Commission Input — Mike Knight asked the commission if they wanted to remain involved with the city's master campus plan. The commission stated yes and asked Mr. Knight that he keeps the commission up-to- date. Erick reminded Ms. Orvis that her term will expire the end of the year and asked that she submit an application to Andover City Hall if she chooses to re -apply. Next Meeting —Scheduled for Monday, November 14th at 6:30 pm. The December 12a' will be the holiday dinner meeting. Commission suggested we take a look at hosting it at Acapulco, Cindy will call to inquire. Meeting adjourned at 7:35 pm Submitted by Cindy Ramseier
