City Campus Expansion Master Plan Update The Andover City Council has approved the Preferred City Campus Expansion Master Plan. Erick will look to council for direction during the year in review presentation at the end of April as to future community center expansion time frame. The YMCA has hired an outside agency to evaluate all Twin Cities YMCA campus'. They will look at each of the campus's, including the Andover site and identify their needs and make recommendations to the Y Board of Directors in July. A possible YMCA Capital Campaign may take place in 2017. Joy asked Allison about the City of Blaine and YMCA partnership. Allison did confirm that the YMCA is having discussions with the City of Blaine and a future facility may include 4-5 field house courts; aquatics, meeting rooms, fitness and kids' stuff. Frank asked how many Blaine residents are part of the Andover YMCA membership base, Allison reported Blaine makes up 7-10% with Anoka and Ramsey making up 15- 18%. The majority of Andover Y Memberships are individuals who reside in Andover. Joy asked what we could do to help the coach of Andover Track and Field as well as football. They have expressed an interest in a multipurpose space and would like to attend one of our advisory committee © meetings. Erick indicated we should wait until we receive direction from the Council on expansion. Erick reminded the commission that at a previous brain storming session we identified many potential users within Andover that may be interested in additional space if a multi-purpose space was to be added to the community center. Staff will find that list and bring to the next advisory commission meeting. Andover YMCA Community Center Advisory Commission Minutes March 28, 2016 Erick provided a handout to the commission that Tony Peterson had sent to him for the meeting. Joy and Ted briefly reviewed the AHYHA information and noted that Jr. Huskies numbers should be included in the AHYHA Participant numbers. Discussion continued that any youth interested in Jr Gold programs have to go to Blaine due to the lack of ice and programs available here at the ACC. Erick did indicate that roughly 30 youth are in a Jr Gold co-op in Blaine. AHYHA currently has 260 ice hours guaranteed at super rink. AHYHA has been lucky enough to purchase an additional 300+ ice hours, however AHYHA realizes at some point — the additional ice hours over and beyond what they've been guaranteed may not be available. Ted indicated it's not the drive to Blaine that concerns the hockey families; it's that between the Super Rink and ACC, they are still short ice hours and if the Super Rink were to ever cut back hours of ice to purchase, the Andover Youth Hockey Program will be in serious trouble. They would have to turn kids away. After looking at the numbers provided in the AHYHA handout; the commission questioned the numbers listed under the 2015-2016 Actuals. The commission wondered if the numbers were transposed. Joy will speak with Tony and confirm numbers provided on handout. Frank asked Erick to find the original projection for ice hours prime vs non -prime. 0 Year In Review/Marketing The commission reviewed the draft copy of the year in review for 2015 that will be shared with the city council. Notes were taken and changes will be made and brought to the next meeting. Frank asked Erick to look at the Performa, did it include revenue hours? Frank also suggested that the public is made aware of the positive fund balance. Cindy shared with the commission that she and Erick met with the Program Partner Specialist of the River Valleys Girl Scout Council and they are excited to establish a partnership with the Andover YMCA Community Center. They are eager to provide additional programming for scouts and leaders in the Northern Suburbs. They currently have 4 separate events booked at the Andover YMCA Community Center for Fall 2016 and Spring 2017. Staff Update YMCA - Allison distributed a handout for review. ACC — Cindy reviewed Status Report of ACC activities. Commission Input None Next meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 13 at 6:30 pm at Andover YMCA Community Center, Room B.
