Group: Andover YMCA Community Center Advisory Commission What adjacencies or efficiencies would your group want to have with the other users on the proposed campus? Co- utilization of spaces. Share /have space to host all ages, Youth - Young at Heart (Seniors). Shared storage area, keeping in mind that it would need to be accessed frequently. What additional /new program needsispaces are desired for your facilitylsite? Set aside space for future add-on and long term items, commission wants to ensure space is available for future expansion. Additional parking spaces needed, safe drop -off area for cars & busses, smooth flow of traffic around building. Additional attractive entrance, buffer from utilities (gas pumps, public works facilities) — ideal entrance would look "park like ". What are the (existing and future) conflicts between you and the other users of the site? Safety! Public works trucks and gas pumps at West Entrance, improve safe access for pedestrians to access facility from the South (Andover Elementary/Andover High School) cross street with no specified pedestrian crossing area (in front of Public Works garages/pumps). Esthetics — fencing of public works yard (old recycle center area, weeds etc.). What are vour anticipated time frames for the new program needsispaces? Please prioritize them? As outlined in the chart above, the items listed under the "Core" column would be our priority items, realizing the final timing may be affected by the decisions made to the master city campus layout plan. The items identified in the chart under the "Add On" column would be items planned for the future, ensuring that adequate space is set aside for these items. What are your goals /visions for the overall site use? New park -like access /entrance to facility (screening industrial areas). Indoor and outdoor amenities and spaces for all ages, year -round meeting space areas. Explore additional partnerships with public service providers —allowing us to offer our customers convenience (i.e. Library on the Go). Explore solar power or alternative energylgreen sustainability technology, including grants or other subsidy funding vehicles. Visit idea of bringing in outside retail into building, while not competing with local established businesses. Any Other Comments: Commission recognizes that in addition to the current 300+ single family homes, that have been approved by the city council, there are also two additional senior housing developments being built just to the North of the facility. Commission also questions the future utilization of the of the vacant land on the SE corner of Crosstown/Hanson. Crowded facilities may turn away potential customers — we want retain our current customers. Balance great service while demonstrating fiscal prudence!
