In Attendance: Frank Kellogg, Allison Boes, Tony Howard, Ted Butler, Erick Sutherland, Mark
Chevalier, Mike Knight

Call to Order 6:30 pm
Approval of Minutes — November 17, 2014 - minutes approved as written.

Discussion Items
Advisory Commission By -Laws
Mark Chevalier would like to create a new AHYHA Board position that would act as the AHYHA
Facilities Director. The person elected into this new position would be appointed by AHYHA to be the
AHYHA representative to the Andover YMCA Community Center Commission. Mark indicated that
the next AHYHA Board election meeting will take place in March 2015. Mark will keep the
commission updated.
City Council Workshop Agenda
A draft agenda was handed out to commission members for the upcoming Andover City Council
Workshop/Year in Review for the Andover YMCA Community Center. Mark Chevalier will send
Cindy stats on the number of ice hours utilized at the Super Rink as well as the current number of
AHYHA participants. Commission members suggested getting statistics from the Anoka County
Library for the Library on the Go services offered at the facility. Allison will also include information
about the tablets that the library has donated to the facility. All commission members are encouraged to
attend the Andover City Council Workshop scheduled for Tuesday, February 24, 2015.
Future Meeting Schedule
A list of future meeting dates/topics were included in the meeting packet. Commission felt that for the
March/April meeting we should discuss expansion and set a meeting date in May 2015 to meet with the
council. Frank would like the commission to review the list of dates/topics and is looking for input at
our next commission meeting.

Top 3 items from Expansion List
Frank asked each commission member in attendance to list their top 3 items of importance for a facility
expansion. They were:
Mark: Additional full sheet ice, dryland training area, equipment storage/office space.
Ted: Ice Arena, Youth Center, Multi -Purpose Space/Sport Area.
Allison: Great big multipurpose space, activity space for program and outdoor something (Splash Pad)
Mike: Multipurpose space, Ice Arena, Open
Tony: Stand alone Youth Center, multipurpose arena, meeting rooms
Erick: Multipurpose training/hockey dryland area, youth center, multipurpose ice arena
Cindy: Multipurpose Sports Area, Multipurpose Youth Center/Sr Center/Meeting Rooms, Parking
Improvements
Frank: A people center "multipurpose center so Y could use, Ice Arena, parking.
Frank suggested we collaborate with other businesses. How can we grow the business?
Frank would like to ensure everyone's top 3 ideas are written down and compiled for next advisory
meeting so discussion can continue.
Future Meeting Schedule
Commission to attend the February 24a' city council workshop.
Regular commission meeting to be scheduled for March — date TBD.
Staff Report
YMCA Update - Summary provided in meeting packet
ACC Staff Update — Summary provided in meeting packet
Staff reminded the commission that the Andover YMCA Community Center facility will be having their
10 year anniversary this summer. The facility will provide treats to the public to mark the anniversary
during Fun Fest on Saturday, July I I "'. Items to include are highlights of activities during the past 10
years, architect drawings, and architect drawing showing expansion ideas.
Commission Input
The commission asked for the status of the request from Andover Baseball Association to have trophy
cases in the main hallway of the Andover YMCA Community Center. Erick stated that the request will
need to be brought to the city council. Erick also mentioned that city staff will be meeting with ABA to
discuss the concession stand at Andover Station North ... the stand may be turned over to Andover
Baseball Assn. to operate. Possibly giving them an option to display trophies at Andover station North.
The next meeting will be scheduled for March 2015.
