YMCA Update • 8,000 more visits than this time last year, due in part by weather. • The Y is again offering their summer membership program which takes place from Memorial — Labor Day. • The new tables & chairs have been ordered for the meeting rooms and should arrive soon. • A new ga ga pit will be located out on the facility lawn, this is a new game that is being played by youth, similar to dodgeball, however in an enclosed area. • New youth archery program has been created • Youth tri- athalon for kids ages 5 —11 and 11 -16 • Summer Power program will begin in June . • The Y and Subway have partnered together to offer boxed lunches for summer program participants. • June 22 — Healthy Living Race, proceeds to benefit Y partners campain. • Golf Event will take place September 17a` at Majestic Oakes. • Andover YMCA ranks #2, behind Southdale YMCA. • Current Andover Y units are at 3,600 with 350 of them on personal pricing plans. ACC Update • Reviewed the Status Report • Partnered with Living Social/discussed program — offering admission punchcards at 50% off • SKATE banquet was very successful. Mark Chevalier shared with the commission that SKATE emphasizes on academics & hockey. More than 300 people participated in this event, making it the largest SKATE banquet in the state of MN. • Expansion — Jim Dickenson shared with the commission that once we hear back from the YMCA, they will explore expansion ideas, realistically looking at 2015 as the earliest construction date. Andover YMCA Community Center Advisory Commission Minutes May 13, 2013 Other Business The AHYHA is always looking for ways to recruit new members to the association. Staff mentioned providing informational flyer to handout to tot -time participants as well as ways that the association could increase their presence at Fun Fest. Frank Kellogg, wanted the commission to be aware of a new organization that opened in Anoka called Hope 4 Youth. This is a homeless shelter serving youth. It is open during daytime hours and provides a place for homeless youth to shower, eat and receive supplies. Mr. Kellogg challenged the commission on finding a way that we could help support this organization. Meeting adjourned at 9:22 pm Next Meeting — Monday, June 10, 2013 Submitted by, Cindy Ramseier
