Staff Update
The committee was updated on the issues in the pool area. There is a problem with where the walls and
roof meet and we are seeing "slime" coming down the walls. This issue was looked at last fall and some
action was taken at the time. As we moved through the winter it appears the first fix did not work. The
plan is to revisit this again, this spring. RJM and Roof -Tee have been made aware of the situation. The
commission asked for the city council to take action and ask some tough questions. Staff will report to the
city administer with the commission thoughts.
Andover YMCA Community Center
Advisory Commission Minutes
February 11, 2013
The commission asked if a portion of the city newsletter could be used for YMCA/Community Center
"tid- bits ". Feel good stories about our users and/or some data on users /classes /special events. This would
be a way to share some stories with the public on what we are doing here at the facility.
The commission asked for staff to review our emergency procedures. Find a way to better communicate
those procedures to our users through additional signage or handouts. Check with the city attorney on our
liability and things we can do to protect ourselves.
The commission asked about moving our Community Center update from the fall to the spring. Staff will
check with the city administer to see if it's a possibility, perhaps in 2014.
The commission was updated on Subway and Library on the Go. Subway is going very well to date. No
new news from the Library.
Building expansion is gaining some traction. After much discussion it was decided to hold a workshop
meeting on Feb. 25 to explore all the options for future expansion. The commission would like to keep .
this ball rolling and plans on taking the lead to keep it moving. Our city administer and city council will
become more involved over the next few months.
